The "Virtual Car" is a Virtual Reality System which allows potential car buyers to configure their car and survey it as a very realistic 3d-model in real time. (more details on "Virtual Car")
If the undecided customer wishes, he gets a few days after his visit at the car dealer a personalized CD ROM by mail. With the CD ROM the customer can reexperience the exiting configuration process of the Virtual-Car-System at his desktop computer.
With the help of a progressive three-d user interface the configured features of the car can be viewed on realistically prerendered images. The single images float in virtual space at exactly the same position where a camera would be positioned to shoot this image. Beside these images there are a flythrough movie, a panoramic movie of the interior and an object movie on the CD ROM. The object movie allows the user to move around the car on a hemisphere and to see the exterior from all angles.
